One of four main groups (along with Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains) musical movement grang, enjoying wide popularity in first half 90th years, Pearl Jam have appeared unique of this «the big four» who has managed to hold on till next decade. Moreover, and in 21st century Pearl Jam don't hurry up yet to fasten with music in spite of the fact that their new works do not reach the same level of popularity that was at their first albums Ten and Vs, the group continues to bend the line, without paying attention to circumstances.
The collective history leaves the roots in first half 80 when two future participants of group, guitarist Stone Gossard and bass player Jeff Ament, played together in the Seattle collective Green River which is considered as the first collective, playing grang. The group has existed four years and has collapsed in 1987 because of numerous disagreements between Amentom and vocalist Mark Armom. Àðì has based group Mudhoney; Gossard with Amentom have found the new vocalist and the drummer and were called Mother Love Bone. The newly made group has drawn attention of label Polygram, and in 1989 to the public there was their first album Apple. Unfortunately, it has appeared also the only thing the vocalist of group Andrew Wood has died from overdose by heroin some weeks prior to an album exit. After Wood Gossard's death and Ament began to search for musicians for creation of new collective guitarist Mike Mak-Kridi became one of them.
