Early years (1930—1960)

Rey Charles was born in the small city of Elbani, in the State of Georgia, the father — Bejli Robinson, mother — Areta Robinson. The family of Reja was very poor — as he spoke, «Even among others black … we were on the bottom step of a ladder, looking upwards at the others. Anything below us — only the earth». The family of Reja has moved to small settlement Grinvill, in Southern Florida when to it there were all some months. The father didn't play a considerable role in life of Rey, and after a while after its birth, he and has at all deserted their family, having left Rey and his younger brother George (George Robinson) on care of Arety and its mother-in-law — Mary Jane Robinson (Mary Jay Robinson). When Reju was five years, his brother George who for a year was more younger, has started to sink in a wash-tub standing in the street. Rey which witnessed this case, tried to help it, but couldn't make anything as the brother for it was too heavy.
