In the mid-nineties Bjoern Diksgerd and the first keyboard player Mando Diao Daniel Haglund base the first group which is called in the beginning Butler, and in 1999 is renamed in Mando Diao. In 2004 the keyboard player has left group because of small misunderstanding and the vacant position is occupied with Mats Borke. The group name, according to musicians, has no certain sense - according to Diksgerda, the strange person who ran to it towards once has dreamed it and "Mando Diao" shouted. Bjoern has shared this dream with the colleagues, and they have decided to rename group.

In the first years after the basis the group played numerous clubs across all Sweden and had the admirers. In 2001 year fellow countryman Mando Diao moderator MTV-Sweden of Tommi Gerd has heard their music and has offered group the contract with firm EMI. Since then he is engaged in management in group.
