The Velvet Underground the cult American rock group of 1960 and 1970th years which were at the beginnings of alternative music. The name often reduce to V.U. Or The Velvets. Key participants Velvet Underground Lu Read and John Kejl (taking part in record of first two albums), rather successfully continuing solo career after leaving from group.
The group history originates in 1964. At that time Lu Read (on March, 2nd 1942) played the river insignificant garage groups, and also worked as the author of songs for label Pickwick Records. Then its acquaintance to John Kejl (the river on March, 9th 1942) the Scot who has moved to America for training to classical music has taken place. At that time Kejl already started to cooperate with vanguard composers like John Cage and La Monti Young which influence of music is felt on early records The Velvet Underground.
Their first joint group of steel The Primitives, the collective collected for record of a song written by Read «The Ostrich». The third member «Primitives» Uolter De Maria has soon been replaced by Sterling Morrison (on August, 29th 1942 - on August, 30th 1995), Read's schoolmate on Sirakuzkom to university. The line-up has been added by drummer Angus Maklajs. Maklais also provided group with equipment at the first concerts, but has left, when «Velvets» began to take money for the performances. To it on replacement has come Morin "Mo Tucker, the sister of friend Morrison as the percussionist.
